Trade with Cards from the Quarry

I just completed a small, but significant, trade with hiflew from Cards from the Quarry. I knocked about 4 cards off his want lists and, in exchange, I got three cards I needed from 2011 Heritage:

110 - Mark Tiexiera

Though his power numbers are still good, Tex's BA and OBP have been down the last two years. I wonder if a lot of that is due to teams going into a defensive shift when he bats from the left side of the plate. When you look at his platoon splits from 2011, he hit well as a righty, but was positively anemic from the left side when he wasn't hitting home runs. I have heard that he was going to work on hitting to the opposite field as a lefty this off-season. If he is successful in doing so, I predict a monster year in 2012.

202- Corey Hart

Not much to say about this guy (I will not make the all-too-obvious sunglasses joke) other than that is a face only a mother could love. I will note that Hart and Teixeira were the last two non-short prints I needed from the 2011 Heritage set. I am now down to just short prints and inserts to complete the set. I am pretty psyched about knocking these two off.

442- Kevin Gregg

Aaaaand one of the short prints. These guys are like gold and I was also pretty happy to be able to trade for it. I am loathing having to go to COMC or a similar site and pay the extortion prices that short prints command.

Thanks, hiflew!

Trade with Potch Wheeler

Yesterday was a good day. I completed a trade with the esteemed Hoosier, Potch Wheeler. I had a few 2011 Topps cards he needed and was able to help him out on his 1978 set with some of the duplicates I had from when I built my set early this year. In return I got several cards I needed.

Heritage short prints are like gold to me. I currently have three Heritage sets that I am working on. I am closest to completing 2011, but I am still needing a fair number of short prints. And I hadn't made any progress on it whatsoever in months. These cards revived my effort.

I am really close to completing the Topps Lineage 200 card base set. This card reduced my want list by 20%. I am pretty psyched about it, since the last few rack packs I bought yielded a bunch of duplicates. I had given up on getting any more base cards for this set, except through trades. So, a huge thanks out to Potch for helping me get closer on two different sets.

On a separate note, I am off this week and have spent my morning putting together a want list for the 1976 set. I just finished 1977 and expect 1971 to take a while since I mostly lack the expensive high number cards, I figured I needed something to keep me busy during the off=season. 1976 should be good in that the commons will be fairly cheap and the stars aren't all that outrageous. And since I am off today, I may wander over to the card shop and start on it.

Who? Who? Night Owl, That's Who

So, I recently traded some Topps Lineage with Night Owl. You know the drill. I get rid of some Dodgers, he gets rid of some Yankees.

A-Rod. One of the key parts of the Yankee offense, though they have been playing just fine when he was on the DL recently. Eduardo Nunez filled in adequately at the plate, although his defense has been troubling at times.

CC!

CC! I saw a funny joke earlier in the year about CC being an innings eater, but I'll be darned if I can find it again to insert here. Make up your own.

Mr. October. Game 6 of the 1978 World Series is still one of my fondest childhood memories.

Fuzzy Mark Teixeira. Still hitting for power, but his average is not so good this year. The way he waves the bat around while waiting for the pitch kinda drives me nuts. But he is there, and I am here, so it isn't like anyone should listen to me.

The Iron Horse.

Poor Donny Baseball. He is probably the only recent former player that has fallen further than Lenny Dykstra.

Normally, I would be annoyed at someone sending me a Red Sock. But, it just so happens this is one of the 2011 Heritage short prints I still needed. So all is forgiven.
